So I like to look at random stuff, and one day I ran across PETA's website. Now, I don't condone animal cruelty, let me say that to begin with. If I was home, I would be eating beef that was hand raised by my grandfather and humanely killed (with a bullet) and sent a processing plant that maybe packages 2 animals at a time, and which I have personally seen. I would eat chicken that I raised, but my mother has a strong dislike for them and the various animals around our house would probably gobble them up, no matter how much we tried to fence them in.

So reading their website, I at first rolled my eyes. I realized the solutions they offered would limit me severely in lifestyle. Now I'm in college. In a northern state. Cows are treated like royalty up here. And it isn't easy to find fresh food (let alone the money to buy it). And as I read on, I felt like either laughing, or crying.

Then it came to testing animals. Now, injecting mice with a cosmetics cream to see if it dies or not isn't very nice. Not at all. However, they proposed ending cancer research on animals. Okay, PETA geniuses, how do you plan on testing new drugs? Are you just going to grab a few people, stick them with it and see what happens? It doesn't work that way. And for your information, all our knowledge about genetics (the human genome is partially deciphered because we know how it works in mice and other animals).

My apologies to any vegans or vegetarians, but PETA, you guys are nuts. I mean, your realize you're like a tiny minority, and most people just don't see things your way, and probably never will? Telling them to stop eating meat and throwing paint on fur coats and other things is NOT helping anything! If you want to do something, why don't you try and work on legislation that raises standards for slaughter plants or egg houses, instead of just complaining and trying to boycott everyone? Believe me, people listen more when they're not being proclaimed as agents of evil organizations.

Again, my apologies if I've offended anyone, but it is simply what I feel and I had to get it out of my system.
